Yes, They Are Spider Lilies and there are more...

Seems that they are spider lilies indeed. They originate in Japan and some Middle Eastern countries. Guess that is why they are drought friendly. I linked the photos to their web source. There are just so many pretty ones...

What's Blooming at the Cottage???

Anyone know what this lovely flower is? I kind of think it might be from the lily family. They come up in late summer just here and there in the yard. The little old lady that owned this cottage before me probably planted them in the 1950s. They are a shrimp red in color, darker than pink, but not quite real red. No leaves, just a stem. They bloom for about a week. Anyone know what they are called?

...Claudette. She purchased this pillow, well, minus the poms and fashioned as a 18" square pillowcover. She purchased the 500th item from my shop and scored another piece of this coveted fabric for framing! Thanks to Claudette and all my other customers and friends that have promoted my shop! Happy Saturday!!

Animal Cracker Pillows

Remember animal crackers - they came in a small paper box with a wide string handle. Lots of animals on their way to the circus on the sides of the box! There was a wax paper inside that unfolded to reveal lots of animal shaped crackers. We used to take them out of the box and lay them out and sometimes even eat them one limb at a time - LOL! I was recently inspired by a vintage bedspread that I found on etsy to create these Animal Cracker Pillows...

These fun pillows are for sale in my etsy shop - Thanks for stopping by!!

What I did instead...

...well, I was supposed to paint the studio this weekend, even took Thursday and Friday off to have extra time. Had a sick headache for two days and ended up making some pillows and working in my shops instead. Oh, well, there's always next weekend! I did make some lavender sachets - they smell wonderful...

You can find these and more in my shop - Thanks for stopping by! Have a great week!!

Studio Makeover - Yeah!

Well, I guess you cannot really call it a makeover when you have never really had an "official" place to craft. I am so excited. I have been to the paint store two days in a row and am going back for more samples tomorrow - looking for just the right blue. My ideas...

My inspiration for color - vintage crewel work. Made this pillow a couple weeks ago for my family room - I just adore the blue colors - been carrying it around with me trying to match it.

My aunt left me two Rembrandt etchings when she died and they are framed in beautiful silver foil-like frames. They look fabulous on blue!

This is the craft center from Pottery Barn. Mine will be very similar to this and will be painted an antique white. There are, count them, 18 cubbies for stuff - yippee! I am so tired of my stuff being in piles!!

Here is the desk - I may change the knobs, haven't decided. It will have 6 drawers! Yeah!! I am going to use my vintage sewing chair. It is really cool and has just the right support and the seat comes off so that you can store thread in it. Will paint it the antique white and cover it with one of my favorite barkcloth fabrics!

This will be the top of the bookshelf - it will sit on a cabinet with doors, kind of like a hutch. Also, painted the antique white!

So you kind of have an idea and I am sure things will change - the big part is finding the right blue. Hope I find it tomorrow! Thanks for stopping by!!

Froggy Wednesday

Hubby found this little guy - or girl - outside our door. He is so tiny - an inch long at the most. He is some sort of rain frog, I think. Too cute!
