What to do with those smaller bits of vintage barkcloth - can't waste any of it. I made some neat adjustable cuff bracelets. Took some fabulous new vintage pieces of mid-century modern barkcloth and covered some aluminum cuffs. I love the way they turned out. No two of them are alike. What do you think??

Another rescue from the trash, I could not resist! I did some research and cannot really figure out what style of chair this is. Pretty sure she is a parlor chair and she has some Queen Anne characteristics, but wish I knew for sure. I am going to take the old fabric and check out my fabric books to try and date this old girl. I stripped her down - her insides were some sort of wood shavings - maybe cedar - and cotton and old jute webbing. Stripped her bare. These are the befores. As we say in the south, "She ain't much of a looker!", but Cindy has something instore. Planning to paint her an offwhite and put a new upholstery weight linen on her. I have never seen so many upholstery tacks in a piece before - took me forever to get her naked - probably what hubby says about this old girl too! HEHE!! She is ready for a coat of paint now and her new outfit! Stay tuned! Thanks for stopping by! 
I never know what wonderful adventure I am in store for when I purchase vintage textiles. This one was just really cute and handmade in Bolivia, so I purchased it. After holding it and just admiring the handiwork of some crafty lady for some time, I decided recently to make it into a pillow. It was lined on the back, so I opened it up to stuff it and started to take off what I thought was a small patch on the back. Well turns out, it was a small pocket and had a handwritten message in it in another language. Thanks to google, I was quickly able to translate the Spanish message and it reads like this..."This burlap sacking represents the ruins of Sacsayhuaman - rural landscapes of the place peasants dancing". Sacsayhuaman is an ancient inca wall. And the translation makes perfect sense, you can see the wall and the llamas and the peasants playing instruments and dancing. What an amazing find!

and the time change. What is it that we love so much about getting an extra hour when we "fall back" our clocks. Is it that there is one more hour in the day that we have to mark more things off our "to do" list or is it that we might get a bit more sleep? I don't know, but I sure am sleepy today. Got up earlier than usual - 4:45am. Thought it was six, so I did some laundry, sewed a pillow or two, checked my shops and straightened up a bit, all before going to work at 9:00. It is 1:30 and it feels like bedtime! LOL! And making this post about these lovely vintage pillow ticks is not helping me much. Wish I could just dive into the middle of them all for a nap....
