Let the Sun Shine In!

I found a pair of the most cheerful vintage bedspreads a couple weeks ago. They are new vintage - tops are quilted and skirts are full and flowy. They flaunt the biggest, brightest sunflowers - just so fresh! I could not wait to freshen them up with a spin in the washer and dryer and get them on my Great Grandmother's bed at the cottage.

After Great Grandpa died and she got too old to stay by herself, she would alternate back and forth going to spend time with her children and had a twin bed at each house. It is iron and I believe it used to be black, but my sister-in-law painted it a creamy white. I use it in the spare room at the cottage and model my twin size spreads on it. The spread looks so cute on it, I want to keep it, but if you have ever been to the cottage, you know that I have WAY too many bedspreads for that bed alone. I will be selling bedspreads til the cows come home. LOL!!

These are listed in my shop.

Blue Boy

Look What I found today! A paint-by-number Blue Boy and he is huge - 30" tall x 21" wide. The frame is black and is a little chippy - which just makes it more scrumptious! Did you know that Blue Boy and Pinkie were painted by different painters about 25 years apart? I found some info here.

This Blue Boy was framed with a few nails in the back - the way they used to do it before Hobby Lobby. And there is a string for hanging. I am just in love with him - he is so gorgeous, so well done! I have never seen a paint-by-number this big. Can you tell I am excited?? LOL!!

I purchased him to put in my shop, but am having a BIG problem with that right now. My grandmother on my dad's side died back in 1984 and apparently she loved Blue Boy and Pinkie too - I have her ceramic figures that she painted on my dresser. They are so sweet and I can just imagine her painting them, she was not crafty or artsy, I think she did it for therapy. Papa ran a Real Estate Office and sold insurance and she was just the lady of the house all day, playing bridge and hanging out having tea with her girlfriends. I have her scrapbook too. Pictures of her in flapper dresses and being silly with my soon-to-be Papa. Calling cards, dance cards and valentines and greeting cards with all her notes. I will have to share that one day too! So, what do you think about my handsome Blue Boy??

Granny Square Mania

My sweet husband doesn't usually say a thing or ask any questions as he brings in my packages and watches me open them, but one day a few weeks ago, he did. I opened a package of crocheted granny squares that I purchased and he said "Well, what in the world are you going to do with those?" I thought a minute, and then said " I don't really know but I am sure it will come to me". And come to me, it did, my thinker was thinkin' all the time, woke up one time early in the morning thinkin' about them and could not go back to sleep. I know I am a weirdo!! So far I have crafted two purses and a wine bottle cozy...

Trash to Treasure

Boy, you should have seen her when I found her. She had leaves and debris all entangled in her fringe, numerous spots and just overall dirty. Most folks would have just passed her by, but not me, I saw a diamond in the rough. Brought her home and gave her a good bath followed by a spin in the washer and a tumble in the dryer. Once on the bed, I finger-combed and trimmed her fringe and take a look at ner now. Too bad I did not get a before picture of this vintage Trapunto style snowy white cotton spread. She has found her spot on my bed and I am loving it! I also want to share a few more of my favorite finds of the week...
