Mid-Century Modern

made it to the front page of etsy

I just love mid-century design, especially the textiles. Are you surprised? LOL! I have had some fun with some funky fabrics from that period - pure eye candy to me...

The Green Chair and More...Mid-Century Style

Do you start one project and before you finish that one start another one, and before you finish that one, start another??? Well, I do. When inspiration strikes, I change gears and go!!! In the midst of trying to finish my studio and the "old girl" chair, and trying to keep my etsy shops stocked and special orders up, I have redone another chair. It is a 1970s dining chair in sort of a Mediterranean style. I painted it avocado green and covered the seat with a vintage mid-century barkcloth in a mobile design. She turned out really funky - green is my favorite color and I have been into this shade for quite some time now. I just don't need to get carried away and buy myself an avocado green leather sofa - that would be a huge mistake. So here she is along with some other mid-century style items from one of my shops...

Tropical Deco Delight

My love affair with vintage barkcloth is still flaming - ok, I cheated a little with some vintage grainsacks, but my first love is still my first love, as far as vintage textiles go! It is so rare and the styles and colors are like none seen today. I love the fauna fans on this pillow - reminds me of something growing up from the bottom of the sea and waving in the current - almost 3D looking! The colors are fabulous. This has been in my "to finish" basket for 2 years waiting on inspiration of what to put on the back. Well, I backed it with new black and cream toile - I love it! And put fabulous black tassel fringe on both ends. Stuffed her with a feather/down insert and she is ready to go. Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous day!!

Vintage Barkcloth Cuff Bracelets

What to do with those smaller bits of vintage barkcloth - can't waste any of it. I made some neat adjustable cuff bracelets. Took some fabulous new vintage pieces of mid-century modern barkcloth and covered some aluminum cuffs. I love the way they turned out. No two of them are alike. What do you think??

I have ideas for quilt pieces and ticking and etc! These are for sale in my shop. Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous weekend!!
