The Storque

One of my spreads is featured in etsy's blog today, but what really got me excited is the featured "Get the Look" home of Ingrid from Wool and Wood Stool. I love her bright and casual look especially the crocheted pieces that she has made. Here are a few of her handcrafted items:

I love this afghan - I have some small squares and I believe this will be my next crochet project.

Granny Square Mania

My sweet husband doesn't usually say a thing or ask any questions as he brings in my packages and watches me open them, but one day a few weeks ago, he did. I opened a package of crocheted granny squares that I purchased and he said "Well, what in the world are you going to do with those?" I thought a minute, and then said " I don't really know but I am sure it will come to me". And come to me, it did, my thinker was thinkin' all the time, woke up one time early in the morning thinkin' about them and could not go back to sleep. I know I am a weirdo!! So far I have crafted two purses and a wine bottle cozy...

Vintage Coverlet - Crocheted Roses

I worked at the cottage some today, taking pics of things, trying to list items in my shop. Really, the housekeepers are coming tomorrow, so I was trying to get all my stuff stuffed into closets so they could have a path for the vacuum - LOL. I ran across this vintage coverlet that I purchased a while back and I just got so excited about it, how it looked, with all those crocheted roses - 220 of them. And how it looked on the bed. It has this wonderful 8" crocheted trim around three of the edges and the other edge just tucks under your pillows. I believe it to be completely handmade - Can you imagine the time it would take to do that?? The edges just looked so pretty hanging over the side of the bed. Just had to share with you gals...

Brooches

Little Snow Bird in Crocheted Nest

I have been exploring all the things I can make with a crochet hook and a bit of yarn and have had the most fun making dishcloths, scarves, and mug mats. But my new favorite thing is making brooches. I scored a lot of brightly colored virgin wool yarns (vintage, or course), lots of skeins and have been feverishly crocheting flowers ever since. I am awaiting some lovely vintage pearl half-round buttons that I found on etsy to put some more of these little pretties together. I just love the punch of color and uniqueness they add to a coat lapel, hat, scarf, etc. Here are a few of my creations so far...

Thanks for visiting me today - These brooches, as well as other crocheted items, can be found in my shops. There will be lots more to come - this is too fun!!

Crochet Fever - I'm Hooked!

Well, I've got it. If it came with a fever, I would be burning up! I had forgotten how much fun it is to crochet. Have not done it in decades... it all started when looking for scarves to accompany the wool coats I bought my daughters for Christmas. Could not find what I wanted - nothing was just right. After all, my baby is freezing her tail off in Germany now and needs coverage and warmth. So I thought, well, I used to crochet, I can just make her a scarf ... one visit to the Hobby Lobby Walls of Yarn and I was hooked!! Wow, the yarns... there are so many fabulous textures, weaves and colors. You don't have to be a "fancy" hooker (hehe) to make gorgeous scarves, just a few simple stitches! Here are some of my creations so far...

These are for sale in one of my etsy shops. Click on the pics to link there - Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!!
